Mission and Vision
Mission:
The Hancock County Promise promotes getting every child in Hancock County a Free CollegeChoice 529 Savings account through a community-driven initiative.
Vision:
Create a Culture of College and Careers (post-secondary training)
The Promise shifts the conversation about post-secondary education from one that takes place in high school to one that begins in kindergarten.
Engage Families
Provide families with information, opportunities, and time to sign-up for 529 accounts at school events, e.g. Kindergarten registration, Open houses, Online through newsletters, etc.
College and Career Identity (Igniting HOPE in our children’s future)
In the classroom: Age-appropriate lessons like “What do I want to be when I grow up” and my “career path”
On the campus: Field trip to IUPUI for the “Walk into My Future” event.
